Why Are They Angry at Us?

February 25, 2007 / by myra

I have just read many articles about people who have bitterness and angry toward Christians. I don't blame them anyway maybe because some Christians don't act in love. It's sad to accept that there are lots of careless Christians. But for some reasons, I found out that many people who are not true believer of Jesus Christ are indifferent towards Christian because they are confronted by the Truth...and truth does hurt.

JESUS THE ONLY WAY....
I am sure that if I quote a verse in the Bible that says, " Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life and no one comes to the Father but through Me." Meaning Jesus is the ONLY way.
That's the truth. And many people dis-agree with that. Now, I am being intolerant here with other religions. Do you blame me for that? Or do you blame the Bible?

ON EVANGELISM...
I've read one article, that many Christians ( he even quoted "Baptist') are trying to force people to believe their own views. They knocked at your door and asked this question, " If you were to die today, where would you go?".

Well, as a Christian, I firmly believe that those people preach and tell the good news OUT OF CONCERN. I do that. For what reason? Because I am just concerned that they will go to hell and suffer for eternity. I feel sadness and pain even just to imagine that. So, whether the believe and accept the gospel or not, I don't mind as long as I have told them. Now, if I am wrong or the Bible is wrong, and this belief is just another religious propaganda then I have nothing to lose. At least I have showed my concern to humanity in my own little way. Of course, I have to do it with RESPECT and SENSITIVITY.

ON TOLERANCE...
I don't buy the idea that in order to have peace in this world we have to be tolerant to each other. Yes, tolerance is good for harmonious relationship and peaceful community BUT not to the extent of pricing TOLERANCE above TRUTH and confronting what is NOT good and right.

Ah...so much for this...

The secret is compassion...there is no dominance in paths pursued, only different ways of getting there. In the end, they all converge...Christian, Buddhists, Hindu and all of the rest..thank you...[SMILE]

Compassion is an excellent word, Strider. It is the word that I have been looking for to help define what I think religions should be teaching. With compassion, we at least strive to understand those who are different than we are, instead of trying to destroy them or persecute them to make them see things our way. When one subjugates by force, does one really win the minds and hearts of the defeated? Aren't "victories" achieved by force (or prejudice, humilation and public denial) like sitting on a powder keg or a rumbling volcano? What do they really achieve?

Living in a one religion country like France Israel or Iraq, a person will find little tolerance for other faiths. Those who live where there are many religions may hate one another, but they learn to respect diversity.
That's why the USA is the best country for Jews and Iraqis.
Technically, there can be only one true religion [or maybe none at all]. The best any person knows, his faith is the best for him. He lacks the insight to know his religion is best for another human being.
Ahmadinejad says his relion is better for you and me, He makes a mistake and it may be a fatal one for his country.

Truth: that which is true for all people, at all times. in all places.
When Jesus says "I AM the Way, the Truth and the Life no one comes to the Father but through Me." I believe Him and I thank Him for not only making the way but being the Way. Do people simply hate simplicity of the Gospel?

    Hello Myra,
I appreciate everything that you have to say here, and you say it very eloquently. However, I believe that Jesus did address the issue of tolerance. When the angry crowd was ready to stone Mary Magdalene for being a prostitute, didn't Jesus position himself between the woman and the mob, pick up a stone, face the mob and say, "Let he who without sin cast the first stone."?Correct me where I'm wrong.

Yes, you are right, Jesus showed to the angy public that they are also sinners just like Mary. He did show perfectly His unconditional LOVE to Mary. But Jesus didn't mean that IT IS OK to sin nor continue sinning but rather He said, .."sin no more".[SMILE]I am not very good at apologetic...
